Voting in progress at the just concluded Rivers state rerun elections.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won three House of Representatives seat and one state house of assembly seat in the just concluded parliamentary rerun elections in Rivers state, Daily Post reports.
This was made known at a press briefing on March 29 by the resident electoral commissioner, Aniedi Ikoiwak.
Ikoiwak said Ken Chikere of the PDP won Port Harcourt federal constituency one, while Blessing Nsiegbe of the PDP was declared winner of Port Harcourt federal constituency two.
He said another PDP candidate, Okechuku Chinda won Obio-Akpor federal constituency after beatng the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tony Okocha, who was a former chief of staff to Rotimi Amaechi.
Ikoiwak declared Adoke Smart of the PDP winner of PHALGA state constituency three, while Ferdinand Anabrabra of the APC was declared winner of Akuku-Toru state constituency two, defeating Tonye Alalibo of the PDP who was disqualified from the exercise.
He explained that Alalibo was disqualified in adherence to the judgment of the tribunal and the court of appeal on a pre-election matter.
According to him, the commission will continue to release results that have been cleared of all irregularities.
“Having reviewed some of the issues, we have decided to make pronouncements on some results not declared but were collated. I want to say that details of the places where elections were not concluded are being worked out and will be made public in a later date,” Ikoiwak said.
The REC, who disclosed that the commission was still investigating the result of Degema state constituency, said that the findings would be made public very soon so far, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released results of five federal constituencies and 11 state constituencies from the re-run election held on March 19 in the state.
