A Chief Magistrate Court in Port Harcourt has rejected an application by the Inspector General of Police, Solomon Arase seeking to withdraw murder charges against the former Chairman of Asari Toru Local Government Area, Ojukaye Flag-Amachree.
The police was seeking to withdraw the charges and release Flag-Amachree from custody to allow the police carry out proper investigations into the matter. The Chief Magistrate Israel Agbesor said that the court lacks the power to make an order to withdraw the murder charges and release the Accused from prison custody. The Chief Magistrate struck out the matter before the court and ordered Ojukaye Flag-Amachree to remain in prison custody.
Flag Amachree, a member of the All Progressives Congress, is been charged with felony and the killing of one Mr. Smart Soberekon.
