ELEME LAND MUST BE CLEANSED AND HANDED OVER TO GOD.

The aftermath of the cult attacks against Eleme communities recently cries for an inward look and a yearning for a land free from fears, crime, and the abuse of freedom- a land that will not need any one to police the street. Such a land will exist only if it is inhabited by people who have freely chosen to cooperate with God for healing of their minds and cleansing of their land. Our land will be safe only when our people value and practice love and liberty.
When appropriate cultural values are emphasis in daily social encounter. The burden of this communique is to excite the positive fabrics of Eleme cultural values for the purpose of cleansing and healing.

In the past, Eleme cultural values such as spiritual life, family reputation, hard work, justice/morality, respect for life, elders, and constituted authorities etc. continue to orientate parents and care giver’s contribution to character formation. But at present, this effort is dampened by the popularity of the “age of whatever”, that is an age where no one “want to make a judgement, impose a standard, or call conduct unacceptable.” A phenomenon Simon refers to as the paralysis of “absolutophobia” meaning the fear of absolutes, where the notions of “right and wrong” have become vague.

The prominence in recent time are, an increase in cult involvement and cult clashes, the swift disappearance of brotherly love, the intensive interest in inordinate affections, materialism, desire for immediate gratification, and the display of other vices that are inimical or detrimental to our individual and corporate fusion.

By implication the spatial concentration of young adult cultism and daily shooting and killing of each other in Eleme land at present is as a result of variation in our cultural value system and socialization processes of the youth. In other words, cult and political clashes in our communities is as a result of neglected and decay system that appeals for leadership and caregivers to get control of cognitive processes and behavioral predispositions of our young adults and direct these along cautiously designated lines. A situation where most of our career politicians gambles with the lives of vulnerable youths.

Hence, the clarion call is to the agents of socialization of the young ones such as parents, religious and traditional leaders, members of the extended family, and community at large by Africa tradition to inculcate expected appropriate values to the youth, in other words, the aftermath of cult clash resulting to the death of our youths in recent times is crucial enough for every caregivers to take their responsibility and caution their kids and join effort to police our community after all, these youths are from homes.

Eleme council of chiefs and youth leaders, associations has their role in ensuring the maintenance of our customary values system with sacrosanct. Stealing, killing, witchcraft…are abomination in our culture and those who violate any of Eleme customs should be made to face the wages of their misconduct as stipulated by law of Eleme land.

Furthermore, the foundation of morality is religion. Cultures get its right and wrong primarily from its religion. Religious beliefs and practices provide stability and orders, and justice in society. Ofalarun Eleme USA Inc., under the leadership of Chief Benjamin W. Osaro-Olai therefore propose the need for cleansing of Eleme land as a way to appease God, heal the wound and bring about reconciliation. Spiritual leaders are to come together to coordinate special prayer for our people to humble themselves, confess and forsake their wicked ways, pray and seek the face of God and He will hear us from heaven and cleanse and heal our land.
